Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data StoryFluent collects and your choices. Most of what you do in the App is stored on your device, not on our servers.

1. Stored on your device

Your library, imported and purchased books, reading position, word-learning progress, streaks, badges, and settings are stored locally on your device. We do not upload the content of books you import. If you do not create an account, we do not receive your reading progress at all.

2. Optional account

You can use the App fully without an account. If you create one, we collect your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash) to sign you in, and we keep a cloud copy of your app data so it can be restored on another phone.

That copy includes the books you have unlocked, the looks you own, your credit balance, level, badges, streak, word-learning progress, handwriting progress, game history, and your reading activity and reading statistics. It also carries the random analytics identifier described below, which means that for a signed-in user that identifier is associated with your account.

Accounts are hosted by Supabase, account emails are sent through Resend, and your app-store purchases are matched to your account through RevenueCat. Up to two phones can be signed in to one account at a time; signing in on a third signs out the one used least recently.

You can delete your account and its cloud copy at any time from Settings › Account in the App, or by following the steps at storyfluent.app/account-deletion. Deletion is permanent.

3. Narration

Narration (audiobook playback) normally uses the voices built into your phone, which send nothing anywhere. If you turn on cloud narration, the sentences being read aloud — including from books you imported — are sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to generate the audio, which is then cached on your device. Google processes that text under its own privacy policy and we do not store it.

4. Analytics

The App and this website use Google Analytics to understand general usage (such as which pages or screens are opened). It may collect device and usage information — device model, operating system, language, approximate location from your IP address, and analytics identifiers — and, on the website, cookies or similar technologies.

The App's events travel through a small relay we run on Cloudflare that forwards them to Google. They carry a random per-install identifier, not your name or email.

5. Advertising

The App is supported by ads served through Google AdMob, and this website may show ads through Google AdSense. The App requests non-personalized ads only; Google may still use an advertising identifier and related data to serve, limit and measure them. Google processes this data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). We do not sell your personal information for money.

Where local law requires consent for advertising, the App asks for it through Google's own consent form before any ad is requested.

6. The news reader

When you open the news reader, the App fetches articles and headlines directly from the news sources you have chosen, including Global Voices and Wikipedia. Those requests come from your device, so those sources receive your IP address and can see what you requested, as they would if you visited them in a browser. We do not receive your reading history from them.

7. Your choices

You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings (iOS: Privacy & Security → Tracking / Apple Advertising; Android: Google → Ads). On iOS, ad tracking also follows the App Tracking Transparency prompt. On the website you can use Google Analytics opt-out tools.

StoryFluent Pro removes the ads that interrupt reading. Ads you choose to watch in exchange for credits remain available on every tier, and are never shown unless you ask for one.

You can use the App without an account, and you can delete an account you have created at any time.

8. Children's privacy

StoryFluent is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. It is rated for teens and over, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data and to opt out of certain ad-related processing. To exercise these, contact us.

10. Changes & contact

We may update this policy and will change the effective date when we do. This policy was last updated on October 23, 2026.
